Junior Sales Engineer

Remote
Full Time
Entry Level
About the Role
The Sales Engineer is a technical, client-facing role focused on executing technical tasks, supporting customer engagements, and building internal efficiencies that scale the Sales Engineering team. This role partners closely with Senior Sales Engineers and Account Teams to support client conversations, deliver technical validation, and help move deals forward — while also identifying opportunities to automate and streamline repetitive work across the team.

This role is ideal for someone early in their Sales Engineering career who is strong technically, highly responsive, and eager to learn. Success comes from a combination of technical execution, curiosity, and initiative — pairing reliable follow-through with a willingness to identify inefficiencies and build the automations, scripts, and AI-driven workflows that remove them. Over time, this individual will grow into deeper discovery, solution design, and customer ownership responsibilities, ultimately progressing toward a Senior Sales Engineer role.

What you will do:
Essential Function
  • Support active deals by executing technical tasks — including SQL queries, data validation, API testing, and troubleshooting — in partnership with Senior Sales Engineers and Account Teams
  • Assist with client-facing demos, technical calls, and follow-ups, and help answer client technical questions, RFPs, and security questionnaires
  • Gather and analyze client requirements to determine optimal data structures, integrations, and delivery approaches, and translate them into clearly communicated solution recommendations
  • Build internal tools, scripts, and lightweight workflows — including AI-driven automations — that streamline repetitive work across Sales Engineering and customer interactions
  • Support customer onboarding and validation tasks — including data validation, delivery checks, and issue tracking — to ensure smooth transitions from pre-sale to post-sale
  • Maintain high responsiveness and follow-through on client and internal requests — tracking open items, closing loops, and building a reputation as someone reliable, proactive, and easy to work with
Responsibilities
Technical Execution and Deal Support
Execute the technical work that moves deals forward — SQL queries, data validation, API testing, and troubleshooting — in support of active opportunities. Assist with client-facing demos, technical calls, and follow-ups, and help respond to client technical questions, RFPs, and security questionnaires. Partner with Senior Sales Engineers and Account Teams to translate client requirements into clear, scalable solution recommendations. This role is hands-on, customer-facing, and technical; comfort executing tasks while learning the broader context over time is essential.

Automation and Internal Tooling
Identify repetitive tasks across the Sales Engineering function — onboarding steps, data QA, email follow-ups, ticketing, customer Q&A — and build the tools, scripts, and lightweight workflows that eliminate them. Experiment with AI tools and agents to streamline work across Sales Engineering and customer interactions. Contribute reusable assets such as demo scripts, templates, and documentation that compound team efficiency over time.

Customer Onboarding and Validation Support
Assist with onboarding tasks including data validation, delivery checks, and issue tracking. Help ensure a smooth transition from pre-sale to post-sale by supporting technical implementation steps alongside Senior Sales Engineers. Document common issues and resolutions so future onboardings get faster and more consistent. Maintain working familiarity with REST APIs and JSON to troubleshoot connectivity and ingestion questions as they arise.

Responsiveness and Follow-Through
Maintain high responsiveness on client and internal requests. Track and follow up on open items so nothing stalls unnecessarily, and close loops without being asked. Clients and internal stakeholders should never have to chase for status. Reliability, proactivity, and being easy to work with are non-negotiable expectations of this role — they are what build trust early in a Sales Engineering career.

Learning and Growth
Develop an understanding of customer data environments, use cases, and business needs over time. Learn how to conduct discovery, prioritize requirements, and contribute to solution design. Shadow senior team members across a variety of deal types and customer profiles, and progressively take on more ownership as experience grows. This role is designed to grow into a Senior Sales Engineer position over time, with expanding responsibility for discovery, solution design, customer ownership, and independent deal execution.

Impact and Contribution
Increase team efficiency by automating repetitive workflows and improving processes, freeing Senior Sales Engineers to focus on complex deals and strategic conversations. Improve speed and quality of responses to clients on RFPs, follow-ups, and technical questions. Contribute to a more scalable and systematized Sales Engineering function that compounds in value as the team and customer base grow.

What we’re looking for:
  • 1–3 years of experience in a technical role (Sales Engineering, Solutions Engineering, Data Engineering, or similar)
  • Strong SQL and programming skills for querying, validation, and data exploration — this is required
  • Familiarity with APIs (REST, JSON) and basic troubleshooting
  • Basic understanding of data concepts — data structures, pipelines, and warehouses
  • Experience with scripting or automation (Python, JavaScript, or similar) is a strong plus
  • Experience with AI tools, automation, or workflow optimization is highly preferred
  • Highly responsive and dependable — follows through without being asked, with proactive identification of inefficiencies and a bias toward building improvements
  • Curious and eager to learn both technical and business concepts; able to balance multiple tasks while building broader context over time
What we offer
  • Base Annual Salary $85,000-100,000 plus variable component (Final salary offered may vary depending on your location, job-related skills, knowledge, and experience)
  • Flexible work schedule
  • Flexible time off policy

  • Employer-paid benefits
  • Employer-sponsored EAP (Employee Assistance Program)

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
